Raccoons Are Cute

If you haven't seen yesterdays image, please check it out and let me know what you think. Today's post is not necessarily a terrific photo, but it is a cute picture.

Bethany and I were at Stanley Park last night taking a few pictures when three raccoons came to check us out. It was really hard to get a photo because my viewfinder was completely dark. But with a strong flash and a bit of luck, I was able to get a few good shots. This was one of them.

Don't mind his eyes. I tried forever to correct his 'red eye' (they were really white), but this was as good as I could get it.

LOL...We have a lot of those guys around here. They LOVE our garbage cans. They are very crafty and can figure out almost any booby trap to get into them.

We do have problems with rabbid raccoons though. We get several caught evey year. We are suburban NYC which makes it particularly scary.

Of course we had a bear go down the main street of the largest towns in our county last summer. He decided to break into a dry cleaner at 2 am on a Sunday. A cab driver caught sight of him and the animal control people tracked him through several towns including mine. When I say suburban I mean I can see NYC from several blocks away, so bears and such aren't the norm, lot's of dear everywhere, but rarely a bear.

We also have foxes which are pretty cool.

We also have very aggressive "attack turkeys" which have attacked several people including a postal worker who clocked one over the head with his bag (I think) when it came after him, killing the bird. The Turkeycide was ruled "justified" and the postal worker was cleared of all wrong-doing. LOL

I guess the wildlife around here is pretty "urbanized"...gritty.

Nice shot, and you are right it is a cute racoon. You can see it was dark when you took the shot but the good thing is there are not flash marks.
:)
Must admit, I am becoming a supporter of your work.

We had a little trouble with a few masked friends a few years ago... so they aren't my favorite group of ransackers... but they have always been fun to look at- while ripping through someone else's trash :p

Cute photo- great post :D

This one does not look cute to me, if you ever find you camera neck-strap eaten, you know who it is. :-)

Ahhh, the Stanley Park raccoons! They are cute! We watched a huge community of them emerge from the forest one evening on a visit up there. They begged from all the people around (regular pros at it, they are), and crawled in the trash cans. Doesn't sound cute, but it was!
