Abstract Masts
We had a fantastic day of sailing on Wednesday. I took my camera in hopes of capturing some images of a beautiful day. Unfortunately, there was enough haze in the air, that the photos I took of the mountains did not turn out very well. Would a polarizing filter help with that?
This is one of the pictures I took when we got back to the marina. There were several different compositions, but this was my favourite. I feel like I'm really having trouble coming up with interesting compositions these days, but I'll keep shooting in hopes that my creativity will return.

Very cool lines on this one...like snakes in the water!
Very cool shot. The curvy reflections are wonderful. And, yes, a polarizing filter can help with atmospheric haze.
You're getting better everyday man!
I absolutely love it,
Man if I could, I would gift you a DSLR in seconds, have you shown your wife this I mean WOW, how can she resist not buying it!
GREAT GREAT GREAT SHOT! again man, fantastic.
About the vignetting I mentioned on my blog, it's a sort of vignetting, The parts other than the dog are blackened out :D
Have a great weekend!
WOW!! I REALLY like this one Timmy! Fantastic! Keep up the great work and have a Happy 4th!
VERY nice abstract. Love the lines and colors here. The diagonal crop works for me too.
Well done.
The diagonal framing is perfect. I blocked the traffic on the top right and just looked at the rest of the picture...looks unique...electric.

Very nice. Indeed! Keep on shooting, even when you don't feel like it. Let go and stop trying to be creative and just let it come. Just enjoy the moment.

Paul
I love this. I think this is one of your best. The composition is wonderful the diagonal frame is terrific, it clear and crisp and beautiful.
I am also jealous, I LOVE boating! I haven't gone in ages!
As far as the polarizer and haze...won't hurt...I always use one although I am having trouble getting the size I need for the ne wequipment unless I want to shell out like $200 which is not going to happen...lol I will just be patient and wait for the less expensive ones to come in.
Lovely shot Timmy!
There are good times and there are bad. Just enjoy every moment of it.
In response to the comment you left on my site, the challenges I was referring to can be found at dpchallenge.com (I have a link on my site). There are a lot of good tutorials on that site as well as message boards and the weekly challenges. I never score very high, but that is not the point. I am learning quite a bit and gradually my scores are rising. Check it out some time. Lots of good info. there.
great pic, love refelections on water its a great way of seeing things a new
I must say...the best so far from you!
Nice work, definitely one of your best. Keep shooting, we go through these times when we just aren't feeling it, but that doesn't mean it's not working.
Definitely get yourself a polarizing filter if you don't have one already. I've got them for my most used lenses, and step down rings for the lenses I don't use them on very often. It is my used used filter.
This is a fantastic shot! Really interesting and love the diagonal framing.
I've always heard use a UV filter for haze. But I'm sure the polarizing filter would help too.
fun abstract. I love the lines in the water, great shot.
those reflections are very cool! well captured!! cheers :)
That's a really cool abstract, and I love the colours too. Very well spotted shot, and the diagonal approach is great too!
I think you need to use a hood for the haze, sometimes I shadow the lens with my hand. Polarizer helps dealing with the reflections. In this photo white curves on blue looks like lightinings coming towards you, good catch. I'm wondering about the thin white lines, what are they reflections of?
Hi I have been meaning to leave a comment for a while but I've been suffering World Cup fever! There are some noteworthy shots on here. I love this shot for all the reasons mentioned. Excellent photo...
this is most excellent ... easily one of my favourites, ever!! the angle is great, the colours perfect, & the abstract subject is simply awesome .... photo of the day/week/month!!
;)
Cool shot! The reflections look great.
I like this abstract the colours are good and the blue skies are showing well in the reflections giving it a summer feel
This is really great. Beautiful colours, and the ripple on the reflections is very even. A well accomplished shot.
awesome shot...really like the lines and colors...great abstract:-))
great abstract shot; the composition makes it!
Really like this photo. I like the inventive angle its at. Would not have worked as well if you have put the photo upright I dont think.
this shot rocks. one of my faves.
