Happy B-Day Canada

Today is Canada day. As a nation we are celebrating our 139th birthday (I think). In honour of our nation I am posting a photo that was taken in the United States. I guess I'm not very patriotic. I did look for a decent photo that was particularly Canadian, but I couldn't find one.

This is another image from my trip to Bridal Veil Falls in Oregon. There is a large waterfall to the left of these stairs, but I'm not satisfied with the way I photographed it. I didn't like this photo when I first saw it last month, but, after cropping it, I have changed my mind.

The depth of field isn't quite what I would have wanted. I climbed up a steep hill to take this photo, so I couldn't use my tripod on the hill. In order to get a fast enough shutter speed I had to open up my aperture quite a bit. Oh well, it doesn't bother me too much in this image.

Canon PowerShot S2 IS, 6mm, f/4.5, 1/50 sec, ISO 50

TB,
I have climbed those stairs several times. It is a beautiful set of falls, gorgeous even driving on the Interstate, but better close up. Happy Canada Day -- and you really could have done a Canadian shot. Maybe I will have to find one for you. :-)

Hmmmm, hill climbing and longer exposures. Might be time for one of the walking sticks/monopods.

I love the warm woody tones against the greenery, and the light filtering through. However at first glance this shot looks a bit confusing as I'm a simpel guy, you can see by my latest post lol,
Those purple windows were natural, tinted windows. My grandfather was in the hospital, as he was getting some bandage done I went for a walk :-P
When you can, please update your link to me, point it to thedailysunrise.com please :D

I like the way you captured the path to the bridge, those wooden edged steps look pretty colorful with all green around. Especially the highlights and shadows on them are amazing. Vivid colors, and tones. B&W could be interesting here.

Happy B'day Canada.

Happy Canada Day! Just a few days before our 4th of July. That's a really nice place. I bet that it would be really colorful in the fall!

This reminds me so very much of Bushkill Falls in Pennsylvania, a place we go every year. I was going to make a forray there this week but not sure if I will or not yet.

Lovely shot, just lovely.

nice - reminds me I need to get back to Oregon!
Funny how things occur in similar times... like Canada's birthday is July 1 and the US is July 4 or how Christmas and Hanuka seem to fall in the same week.

Hi! I like your photos very much: they feel quite close to my vision of pictures. Moreover I was in Vancouver for two months in 1973 (I am Italian), and this picture reminds me some wonderful walks I had in North Vancouver Mountain... where did you take this picture? Maybe really there?

Visit my blog, too: having a visitor from Vancouver would be a great pleasure for me!
