Backgammon

And now for something completely different. I took a few shots of my backgammon board. This was my wife's favorite photo of the lot. Perhaps I'll post my favorite at a later date. Tried a few different things with the DoF, but felt this was best. I love backgammon. This was actually my parents' board from when they were my age (mid twenties). Bethany and I play often.

By the way, I'm loving having a tripod. I find that I think a lot more about composition when I use one. Why is that?

you think of composition because you no longer have to worry about holding your camera as well as you can manipulate your tripod to obtain the best photo, therefore giving you time to consider your subject before you take the picture.

I'm glad you're continuing to have fun this photography.

Great job! I really like this.

I had this great tripod from 25 years ago that I was using, until it broke a few weeks ago :(. (It had been my dad's before that, so I'm not sure how old it really was.)

I purchased a new one for my birthday. It's great but it was so expensive and not built anywhere near as well as my old one. They just don't make them like they used to. It is a lot lighter, I will give it that.

The only problem with this picture in our house is that it is a constant reminder of who always wins....ME! Tim...you can't be good at EVERYTHING! :)

Tim (Bethany's friend from TWU, Heather, here), what a fantastic photo. I'm a hobby photoist myself so I'm really enjoying browsing through your work - and I"m learning stuff! So cool! This shot of the backgammon board is really great.

How neat too that you have your parents' old board. My dad and I have a board that we've been playing on since I was 12 or 13. He taught me to play and I only really ever play with him. Good memories.

Thanks for your recent visit and comments on my blog! I can tell from first glance you have some excellent content on here which I will enjoy looking at.

This is a great shot! Very nice angle, colour and content. I still need to get a tripod and have wished I had one at least a dozen times already since I got my DSLR. In fact, the most recent post on my blog was a night show with a 13 second exposure...I had to rest the camera on some guy's car, hence the odd framing...a tripod would have made all the difference!

Excellent angle and composition!

I use a tripod sometimes. Helps get sharp pictures and i can also get to experiment with different apertures!
